Father’s Day 2025: Gift Ideas for the Outdoor Dad
With Father’s Day coming up fast, I figured it’d be a good time to put together a quick list of gifts for dads who love the outdoors—hiking, grilling, tinkering, you name it. I’ve rounded up a mix of gear that’s either useful, cool, or both. Some of this stuff I’ve used myself or seen in action and all of it makes for a solid gift idea. These are straight-up links to Amazon with my affiliate ID, so if you grab anything, it helps support the site—I appreciate that.
Leatherman Wave+ Multitool
If your dad’s anything like mine was, he always had his pocket knife on him, and he was always fixing something or cutting into a box. This Leatherman is a beast—18 tools in one, and it feels solid. Comes with a sheath, too.
YETI Rambler 20 oz Tumbler
You should always be ready to hydrate. This Tumbler keeps coffee hot and drinks cold for hours. I’ve dropped mine out of a moving car once—it still works. Great for road trips, camping, or just sitting on the porch.
Gerber Gear Ultimate Survival Knife
Rigid fixed blade with a fire starter and grippy handle. Feels good in the hand. Great for outdoorsy dads who like to be prepared (or who secretly want to be Bear Grylls).
LifeStraw Personal Water Filter
I use water filters at home. It’s one of the easiest things to toss into a daypack. I recently read an article about a lady who recently died because she drank straight RV tap water from an RV site. This is great if he’s hiking, fishing, or simply health-conscious. Keep a backup in the truck when traveling. No batteries, no-nonsense—works.
Carhartt Men’s Rugged Flex Work Pant
These pants are built like tanks. Rugged, has a bit of stretch, and looks good whether he’s splitting wood or grilling burgers. I’ve got a pair.
Thermacell Mosquito Repeller
This thing is a lifesaver if you’re in mosquito territory. Supposedly, no spray, no smell, and it actually works. He’ll thank you at the next campfire.
Weber Go-Anywhere Charcoal Grill
When my dad got older, he started grilling on a smaller grill that he sat on top of his regular grill. Additionally, my female friend in college had a small grill, and she would sit outside the front of her apartment, grilling chicken breasts in the evening. This classic little grill also travels well. Solid if your dad loves grilling but doesn’t want to lug around the backyard setup. Perfect for tailgates or state park weekends.
Bushcraft 101 by Dave Canterbury
This book is an excellent read for dads interested in self-reliance, camping, and learning the basics of outdoor survival. Written by someone who actually knows his stuff.
UCO Stormproof Match Kit
Cheap, reliable, and works in nasty weather. I keep a set in my glove box. Great stocking stuffer or small add-on gift.
Whiskey Decanter Set with Glasses and Wood Stand
End the day with style. This decanter set looks sharp—perfect for dads who enjoy unwinding with a pour and some peace and quiet.
Wrap-Up
That’s the roundup. If something jumped out at you, I’d say grab it soon—shipping delays are real sometimes, especially right before the holidays. And hey, even if you don’t go with one of these, I hope it sparked some ideas. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
